Radio Control Knob/LCD Display Illumination
The Main Light Switch dimming rheostat controls the brightness of the Radio control knob illumination bulbs and the LCD time/frequency display.
Radio Memory and Operating Power
Voltage is present at connector C257, pin 1, of the Radio at all times through Fuse 5 and circuit 937 (R/W) and 797 (LG/P). This constant power to the Radio maintains clock and station preset memory functions.
With the Ignition Switch in ACC or RUN, voltage is also present at connector C257, pin 3 of the Radio, through Fuse 16 and circuit 137 (Y/BK). When the Radio is turned on, current flows through circuit 137 (Y/BK) and the Radio circuits to ground. The Radio turns ON.
JBL Sound
Vehicles equipped with the JBL Sound system have a trunk-mounted remote Radio Amplifier to power the speaker and a trunk-mounted Subwoofer Amplifier/Speaker Assembly. Power is available to the Radio Amplifier and Subwoofer Amplifier at all times through the AUDIO Fuse and circuit 828 (P/LB). When the Radio is turned on, the remote Amplifiers are activated. The Radio Amplifier powers four speakers according to signals from the Radio. The Radio Amplifier also controls the Subwoofer Amplifier, which powers the special low frequency Subwoofer Assembly.
