Air Injection Pump: Service and Repair

Servicing of the air pump is limited to replacement of the entire air pump assembly. Do not disassemble the air pump assembly.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect air and vacuum hoses from diverter or air switching valves.
3. Remove air switching valve (combination switch/relief valve) from air pump.
4. Loosen air pump pivot and adjusting bolts. Remove drive belt.
5. On vehicles equipped with air conditioning, remove bracket retaining bolts and bracket from air pump.
6. Remove air pump bolts, pulley and air pump from vehicle.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
