Steering Gear: Adjustments

RACK YOKE PRELOAD


1. Remove steering gear, the position in suitable soft-jawed vise.
2. Measure pinion torque using a suitable inch lb. wrench and adapter tool No. T87C-3504-C or equivalent, torque should be 5.3-13.3 inch lbs.
3. If not as indicated, readjust pinion torque by tightening or loosening adjusting plug.
