Idle Speed: Adjustments

NOTE: Before adjusting idle speed, make sure ignition timing is correct and all electrical accessories are OFF while making actual adjustments.

1. Apply parking brake and make sure vehicle is in PARK (A/T), or NEUTRAL (M/T).
2. START and idle engine until operating temperature is reached.
3. Turn OFF engine and disable radiator cooling fan.
4. Connect a jumper wire between green STI single pin connector and ground.

Diagnostic Connector (STO/STI):





5. Verify idle speed is within range:

Manual Transaxle: 800 - 900 rpm
Automatic Transaxle: 800 - 900 rpm

6. If idle speed is NOT within range, turn idle air adjust screw to obtain correct idle speed.

7. After adjustment, remove jumper wire and tachometer. Reconnect cooling fan.
