Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Depressurize fuel system.
2. Remove vacuum line at pressure regulator.
3. Disconnect fuel return line from pressure regulator.
4. Remove retaining screws from regulator.
5. Remove regulator assembly, gasket, and O-ring.
6. If scraping is necessary, be careful not to damage gasket surfaces.
INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate new regulator O-ring with light oil.
NOTE: Never use silicone grease; it will clog injectors.
2. Verify regulator and injection manifold gasket surfaces are clean.
3. Install new O-ring and new gasket on regulator.
4. Position regulator onto fuel rail and install retaining screws. Torque to 27 - 40 in lb (3.0 - 4.5 Nm).
5. Reconnect fuel return hose to regulator and secure with clamp.
6. Reconnect vacuum line to regulator.
7. Reconnect electrical connector to fuel pump.
8. START and RUN engine. Verify fuel system does not leak.
