Dashpot: Description and Operation

Dashpot:

PURPOSE
The dashpot prevents hesitation during the transition from deceleration to sudden acceleration and prevents engine stalling on sudden deceleration.

LOCATION
Side of throttle body.

OPERATION
By means of a spring and diaphragm, the dashpot collapses at a controlled rate to prevent sudden throttle closing.
