Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation

Canister Purge Solenoid:

PURPOSE
Purge control solenoid valve is Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) regulated to control canister purging.

LOCATION
In vapor line between charcoal canister and throttle body vacuum fitting.

OPERATION
The ECA regulates canister purging by grounding the solenoid circuit internally. Manifold vacuum is applied to the carbon canister when the solenoid valve is open, drawing fuel vapors into the induction system to be burned.
