With Turbocharger

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly, then loosen both front wheel lug nuts.
3. Disconnect speedometer cable from transaxle.
4. Remove clutch cable from release lever by removing adjusting nut and pin.
5. Remove intake air bypass valve mounting nut.
6. Remove clutch cable mounting bracket from transaxle.
7. Remove ground wire retaining bolt, then the ground wire.
8. Remove coolant pipe bracket and wire harness clip.
9. Disconnect neutral safety switch and back-up lamp switch electrical connectors.
10. Disconnect body ground connector, then remove two upper transaxle to engine attaching bolts.
11. Remove upper starter mounting bolts.
12. Install engine support bar tool No. D89L-6000-A or equivalent, then attach it to engine hanger.
13. Raise and support vehicle.
14. Drain fluid from transaxle assembly.
15. Remove front tire and wheel assemblies.
16. Remove front stabilizer bar.
17. Remove ball joint clamp bolts, then pull lower control arms down to separate them from the steering knuckles. Use care not to damage ball joint dust boot.
18. Separate both halfshafts by pulling front hub outward as follows:
a. Withdraw halfshafts horizontally from transaxle to prevent damage to oil lip seals.
b. Hold halfshafts during removal to prevent damage to boots and joints caused by moving the joint through angles in excess of 20 degrees.
c. Suspend halfshafts in a horizontal position using a wire hanger or tie to vehicle.
d. It will be necessary to remove intermediate shaft and support bearing assembly.
19. Remove two front crossmember braces.
20. Remove crossmember brace to A-arm support bolts.
21. Remove exhaust hanger from crossmember.

Crossmember Bolt Removal:






22. Remove remaining crossmember bolts in sequence shown, then the crossmember.
23. Remove bolt attaching shift control rod to transaxle, then position aside.
24. Remove attaching bolt from shift extension bar mounting bracket, then slide extension bar off bracket.
25. Remove lower bolt retaining starter motor, then remove bolts attaching end plate to transaxle.
26. Lower transaxle by loosening engine bracket bar hook bolt.
27. Position jack under transaxle, then secure transaxle to jack.
28. Remove front engine mount and bracket from transaxle.
29. Remove bolts attaching transaxle to engine.
30. Remove the transaxle.

INSTALLATION
1. Reverse procedure to install.

2. Install crossmember bolts in numerical sequence, then tighten to specifications.
