Clutch Switch: Description and Operation

Clutch Engagement Switch (CES):

PURPOSE
The Clutch Engagement Switch (CES) detects clutch engagement and sends an input signal to the ECA. The ECA uses this input as a factor in determining engine load. Adjustments to air/fuel mixture, idle speed, ignition timing, fuel pressure, purge flow and A/C cutoff are made accordingly.

OPERATION
This is an ON/OFF switch. Contacts are either open (pedal released) or closed (pedal depressed) depending on clutch pedal position.
