Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Crankshaft Position Sensor (AT Only):
The crankshaft timing sensor is a variable reluctance type sensor. It is triggered by a 35 tooth trigger wheel tooth configuration machined into the rear of the crankshaft dampener. The signal generated by this sensor is called a Variable Reluctance Sensor (VRS) signal. The VRS signal provides the base timing and rpm information to the EDIS module. Base timing is set at 10° and is not adjustable.
