ISSUE: An intermittent or inoperative A/C system may be caused by an A/C clutch that does not engage. This may be caused by an A/C clutch wire that was damaged because it was routed too close to the A/C idler pulley.
ACTION: Examine the A/C clutch wire for damage. If damage is found, repair the wire and correct the routing. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1. Check the clutch wire for damage.
2. Repair the damaged section of the wire.

3. Reroute the wire to the inboard side of the lower radiator hose as shown in Figure 1. It should be away from any possible contact with the idler pulley.
