Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

Air Cleaner Lid:

REMOVAL:

1. Release the four air cleaner lid clamps.
2. Lift the lid assembly from the filter housing and remove the filter element.

NOTE: Visually inspect the filter element, the filter housing and the air cleaner lid for signs of dust or leakage through holes in the filter or past the element seal. Place a light on the inside (clean side) of the filter element and look through the filter at the light. Replace the filter if any holes are visible. Also check the element for deformed seals or for charred (burned) or brittle spots that could fail under engine operation and cause a hole. Discoloration is not a cause for replacement.

INSTALLATION:

1. While holding the air cleaner lid out of the way, Install the filter element in the filter housing.
2. Position the air cleaner lid on the filter housing. Be sure the lid is firmly seated.
3. Engage the four air cleaner lid clamps.
