Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Fig. 5 Oil Pan Tightening Sequence:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain engine oil into a suitable container.
4. Remove catalytic converter inlet pipe.
5. Remove two oil pan to transaxle bolts.
6. Remove ten oil pan to cylinder block bolts.
7. Gently pry pan away from cylinder block and remove pan from vehicle.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Tighten oil pan bolts in sequence shown in Fig. 5.
b. Ensure oil pan is lined up flush with rear face of cylinder block.
