ISSUE:
A pin is used to hold the throttle valve in a fixed position on new or remanufactured service replacement transaxle assemblies. The pin is used during the assembly process to make installation of the control valve easier.

ACTION:
When installing a new or remanufactured 4EAT transaxle, make sure to remove the pin and install a new retaining bolt. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

NOTE:
FAILURE TO REMOVE THE PIN FROM THE THROTTLE CAM WILL HOLD THE TRANSMISSION THROTTLE LEVER IN A FIXED POSITION RESULTING IN A SHIFT CONCERN.

1. Install 4EAT transaxle in the car. Refer to the 1991 Escort/Tracer Shop Manual for service details.

2. Attach the TV cable to the throttle cam. Refer to the 1991 Escort/Tracer Shop Manual for service details.
