Disassembly

Exploded View Of Transaxle:

1. Mount transaxle into bench mounting fixture tool No. T57L-500-B or equivalent.
2. Remove drain plug and drain any remaining fluid from transaxle.
3. Remove bolts which secure rear cover to transaxle case. Tap cover with a soft mallet to loosen gasket seal, then remove rear cover.
4. Shift transaxle to 1st or 2nd gear, then use torque adapter tool No. T88C-7025-GF or equivalent, to lock input shaft. Uncrimp tabs and remove locknuts.

Removing Input Reverse Synchronizer Gear:

5. Remove input reverse synchronizer gear and remove main reverse synchronizer gear.
6. Use a pin punch to drive out roll pin and remove shift fork, synchronizer ring and clutch hub assembly.
7. Remove synchronizer ring, input 5th gear and gear sleeve.

5th Gear Lock Bolts:

8. Remove main 5th gear, lock bolts, guide bolt, springs and ball.
9. Tap transaxle case lightly with a soft mallet to loosen gasket seal. Remove transaxle case, then the magnet.

Removing Lock Bolt From Reverse Idler Gate:

10. Remove reverse idler shaft and reverse idler gear. Remove lock bolt from gate.
11. Remove clip and shift rod (5th and reverse), then remove the gate.

Removing Crank Lever Shaft Pin:

12. Remove pin, crank lever shaft and assembly.
13. Align ends of interlock sleeve and control lever. Turn shift rod counterclockwise, then raise both shift forks and shift clutch hub sleeves.
14. Remove shift fork and shift rod assembly. Remove input shaft gear assembly.
15. Remove main shaft gear assembly, differential, input shaft bearing cups, diaphragm spring and adjustment shims.
16. Remove input shaft seal using puller tool No. T58L-101-B and slide hammer tool No. T50T-100-A or equivalents.
17. Remove main shaft bearing cups, adjustment shims, diaphragm spring and funnel.
18. Remove guide plate and spacer, change arm, selector pin, change rod and boot.

Removing Selector Spring, Reverse Gate & Selector:

19. Remove spring, reverse gate and selector.
20. Remove change arm oil seal using collet tool No. D80L-100-Q, actuator pin tool No. D80L-100-G and slide hammer tool No. D80L-100-D from blind hole puller tool set No. D80L-100-A or equivalents.
21. Remove breather cover and breather. Remove speedometer driven gear assembly.
22. Remove differential bearing cups using bearing replacement tool No. T86P-70043-A, disc brake piston removal tool No. T73L-2196-A and slide hammer tool No. T50T-100-A or equivalents. Remove adjustment shims.
23. Remove reverse lever shaft and reverse lever.
24. Remove neutral switch and gasket, then the differential seals using puller tool No. T77F-1102-A and slide hammer tool No. T50T-100-A or equivalents.
