Visual Inspection and Test Preparation

1. Visually inspect the Idle Speed Control-Bypass Air (ISC-BPA) valve system and associated components. Inspect for loose, leaking, pinched, kinked or other damaged coolant, air induction hoses, and connections.
2. Check for excessively low or high idle speed with engine warm.
3. Review complaints of hard starting, poor fuel economy, or white smoke from tailpipe.
4. If a component is suspected as the obvious cause of malfunction, correct the cause before proceeding with the next step.
