Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air duct that connects to the throttle body and resonance chamber.
3. Disconnect the accelerator cable and kickdown cable from the throttle cam.
4. Remove the cable bracket mounting bolt and remove the bracket from the intake plenum.
5. Disconnect the throttle body electrical connectors.
6. Disconnect all necessary vacuum hoses from the intake plenum.
7. Remove the intake plenum upper mounting bolts and nuts.

Intake Plenum Removal/Installation:





8. From under the vehicle, remove the intake plenum lower mounting bolts.
9. Remove the intake plenum and gasket from the intake manifold.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the intake plenum gasket.
2. Place the intake plenum in its mounting position.
3. Install the intake plenum upper mounting bolts and nuts. Tighten the nuts and bolts to 19-25 N-m (14-19 lb. ft.).
4. From under the vehicle, install the intake plenum mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to 19-25 N-m (14-19 lb. ft.).
5. Connect the idle speed and air bypass hoses to the intake plenum.
6. Connect the throttle body electrical connectors.
7. Connect all necessary vacuum hoses from the intake plenum.
8. Connect the accelerator cable and kickdown cable (4EAT) bracket to the intake plenum. Tighten the bolts to 8-11 N-m (69-95 lb.ft.).
9. Connect the accelerator cable and kickdown cable (4EAT) to the throttle cam.
10. Install the air duct that connects to the throttle body and resonance chamber.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
