Removal

1. Install battery memory saver and disconnect the battery.

2. On vehicles equipped with manual windows, remove the front window regulator handle.

3. On vehicles equipped with power windows, remove and disconnect the window regulator switch housing from the armrest. See Service Manual, Section 01-11.

4. Remove the door trim panel. Follow instructions in Service Manual, Section 01-05.

5. Position the door weathershield away from the door latch assembly.





6. Disconnect the outside door handle rod from the door handle (Figure 1).

7. Disconnect the door latch control rod from the latch assembly (Figure 1).

8. Disconnect the door latch control cylinder rod from the lock cylinder (Figure 1).

9. If equipped with power door locks, disconnect the actuator rod (Figure 1).

10. Disconnect the door latch switch electrical connector.

11. Remove the inside door handle from the remote rod (Figure 1).

12. Remove the door latch assembly.





13. Cut all tie straps securing the latch switch wiring harness to the latch assembly (Figure 2).





14. Remove the protective rubber cover from the top of the latch assembly. The rubber cover is secured in place with a heavy coating of silicone. Some force will be necessary to remove the cover (Figure 3).

15. Remove the door latch switch retaining screws, then the door latch switch (Figure 3).
