The following procedure can only be performed with the engine removed from the vehicle. Remove engine as described under ENGINE.
1. Remove dipstick, crankshaft pulley bolt, washer and pulley.
2. Remove front cover bolts and front cover, Fig. 10.
3. Align camshaft and crankshaft sprocket timing marks as shown in Fig. 11.
4. Remove camshaft sprocket bolt and washer.
5. Remove sprockets and timing chain from engine as an assembly, Fig. 12. Check timing chain vibration damper for wear. Replace if necessary.
6. Remove oil pan.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Ensure to align timing marks as shown in Fig. 10.
