Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair
*** THIS ARTICLE REFLECTS CHANGES MADE BY TSB #91236, DATED NOVEMBER 13, 1991.REMOVAL
1. Open hood.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove drive belt(s).
4. Remove the fuel line shield.
Rotunda Engine Support Bar:
5. Install Rotunda Engine Support Bars (014-00750) or equivalent, Figure 1. The following lift points and procedures are to be used for removing the engine or supporting it during service, such as for transaxle removal. The equipment required is:
^ Engine Lifting Brackets (D81L-6001-D) or equivalent.
^ Rotunda Engine Support Bars (014-00750) or equivalent. An engine support bar may be made from a length of 4x4" (102x102 mm) wood cut to about 57" (1448 mm).
6. Attach Engine Lifting Bracket (D81L-6001-D) or equivalent to points shown in Figure 1 with bolt (M10x1.5x2O).
7. Remove belt tensioner.
8. Remove engine mount.
9. Remove idler pulley.
10. Remove idler pulley bracket.
11. Raise vehicle.
12. Remove stabilizer bar bracket retaining bolts.
13. Lower vehicle.
14. Lower engine assembly.
15. Raise the vehicle to a height where damper can be removed easily.
16. Remove damper bolt.
17. Remove damper. (If necessary, use Puller-Differential Side Bearing Tool # T77F-4220-B1).
INSTALLATION
1. Install damper.
2. Install damper bolt and tighten to 111-139 Nm (80-100 ft lb).
3. Lower vehicle.
4. Raise engine assembly.
5. Raise vehicle.
6. Install stabilizer bar brackets to body and tighten to 63-72 Nm (47-55 ft lb).
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Install idler pulley bracket.
9. Install idler pulley.
10. Install engine mount and tighten the nut and bolts to the engine bracket to 80-120 Nm (60-90 ft lb). Tighten the bolts to the body to 50-75 Nm (40-55 ft lb). Tighten the nuts to the body to 100-135 Nm (75-100 ft lb).
11. Install belt tensioner.
12. Remove engine support bar.
13. Install fuel line shield.
14. Install drive belt(s).
15. Connect battery ground cable.
