Removal

WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY AND BACKUP POWER SUPPLY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.

NOTE: To repair stripped air bag sensor retaining nut on outboard mounted sensors, use nut and washer assembly (Part No. W620397-S36). Tighten to 9-12 N.m (7-9 lb-ft).

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and backup power supply.
2. Remove bumper.
3. Remove inner fender splash shield.
4. Remove locator on connector from wiring harness in engine compartment.






5. Disconnect LH front sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove wiring locator on rail, and two screws retaining LH front sensor to LH lower outer radiator support, and remove sensor from vehicle.

Installation
1. Position LH sensor to LH lower outer radiator support, and secure with two retaining screws. Tighten screws to 9-14 N.m (7-10 lb-ft).
2. Connect LH front sensor electrical wiring connector to wiring assembly connector.
3. Install locator on connector into wiring retainer in engine compartment.
4. Install bumper.
5. Install inner fender splash shield.
6. Connect backup power supply and battery ground cable.
7. Verify air bag indicator.
