Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair


WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY AND BACKUP POWER SUPPLY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.

Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and backup power supply.
2. Rotate glove compartment past its stops.
3. Disconnect power supply (if not already disconnected) mounted to the right of the glove compartment opening.
4. Depress two diagnostic monitor retaining tabs and slide monitor off its bracket.






5. Disconnect two monitor connectors. Remove monitor.

Installation
1 Connect diagnostic monitor connectors.
2 Position monitor to bracket and slide into place. Ensure retaining tabs are secure.
3. Connect backup power supply and battery ground cable.
4. Return glove compartment to its original position.
5. Verify air bag.
