Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

Throttle Cable:






REMOVAL

1. Push the accelerator cable nylon bushing out of the accelerator pedal arm.
2. Remove cable housing from dash panel by depressing two vertical snap-in tabs and pushing outward from inside passenger compartment.
3. Remove speed control cable, of equipped.
4. Disconnect the accelerator cable at the throttle body throttle lever by inserting a screwdriver between the cable and the throttle lever and giving a twist.
5. Remove the cable housing to the engine mounting bracket retaining screw.
6. Remove the cable from the retainer on upper intake manifold brace.


INSTALLATION

1. Insert the pedal end of the cable with cover installed through the dash panel and snap cable housing into dash panel. Ensure cable housing retaining snaps have engaged into the dash panel.
2. Position the cable housing in the engine mounting bracket and install the retaining screw.
3. Connect the cable to the throttle body lever.
4. Snap cable into retainer on upper intake manifold.
5. Install speed control cable, if equipped.
6. Press the nylon bushing on the accelerator cable into the accelerator pedal arm.
7. Check installation for binding or interference. Ensure the cable movement is unrestricted.
