Water Pump: Service and Repair

1. Drain cooling system, then remove upper radiator hose at engine.
2. Remove fan and clutch assembly from water pump shaft using fan clutch holding tool No. T84T-6312-C and fan clutch nut wrench tool No. T84T-6312-D or equivalents. Position fan and clutch in fan shroud.
3. Remove fan shroud and fan/clutch as one assembly.
4. Loosen water pump pulley bolts.
5. Remove accessory drive belt by rotating tensioner away from belt by using pulley retaining bolts only.
6. Remove water pump pulley, then disconnect radiator lower hose, heater hose and water pump bypass hose at water pump.
7. Remove bolts attaching pump to front cover. Remove pump.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Tighten to specifications.
b. Following installation, fill and bleed cooling system.
