Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

A one piece crankshaft rear main oil seal must be used when replacement of seal is required.
1. Punch one hole into seal metal surface between seal lip and engine block using a suitable tool.
2. Screw threaded end of suitable slide hammer into hole and remove seal. Use caution not to damage oil seal surface.
3. Lubricate new seal with engine oil, then position seal on rear oil seal installer tool No. T82L-6701-A or equivalent.
4. Position tool and seal on rear of engine, then install tool attaching bolts. Tighten attaching bolts alternately until seal is properly seated.
