Removal and Installation

1. Clean the gasket surfaces of the engine oil pan and engine block.






2. Apply a thin coat of Ford silicone Gasket Adhesive E6AZ-1 9562-A, or equivalent to the engine block and to the engine block side of a new oil pan gasket. Allow the adhesive to set up for approximately five minutes, before positioning the gasket to the engine.

NOTE:
- This procedure allows the gasket to stick to the engine block to insure correct gasket positioning during assembly.
- Do not apply any adhesive to the oil pan, or the oil pan side of the gasket.
- If adhesive is applied too thick, it will take longer to dry.

3. Place the oil pump and pick-up tube assembly in the oil pan and position the pan on the sub-frame.
4. Install the oil pump/pick-up tube and oil pump drive to the engine. Tighten the oil pump retaining bolts to 30-43 N.m (22-32 ft-lb).
5. Position the oil pan to the engine and install all the pan bolts hand tight, then tighten the pan bolts evenly to 12-15 N.m (9-11 ft-lb).






6. Connect the electrical connector to the low oil level sensor located in the oil pan, if so equipped.






7. Raise the sub-frame into position while supporting the sub-frame on the jack stands, install the six rearward bolts loosely on the sub-frame. Align the sub-frame and tighten the bolts.






8. Install the lower strut-to-control arm bolts and nuts and tighten to 14-195 N.m (103-144 ft. lb.).
9. Remove the two jack stands used for installing the sub-frame.






10. Connect the steering shaft and install the steering shaft pinch bolt. Tighten the pinch bolt to 41-57 N.m (30-42 ft-lb).
11. Install the bolt securing the transmission lines to the engine block (right hand side).











12. Secure the power steering cooler line retaining clips.

13. Lower the hoist.






14. Lower the engine onto the engine mounts and remove the engine support fixture.
15. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.
16. Tighten the transmission mount nut to 88-115 N.m (65-85 ft-lb).
17. Install the engine mount through bolts and tighten to specifications.
18. Install a new engine oil filter.
19. Lower the hoist.
20. Position the radiator fan shroud into the lower retaining clips and install the two bolts retaining the radiator shroud to the radiator.
21. Connect the air filter cover rstaining clips.
22. Fill the engine wlth the recommended quantity and quality of oil. Install the engine oil dipstick and connect the battery negative cable.
