Intake Manifold: Description and Operation

Intake Manifold Assembly:

PURPOSE
The air passages are tuned for higher engine torque and power output.

CONSTRUCTION
The air intake manifold is a one-piece aluminum casting. Fuel injector ports are machined to prevent both air and fuel leakage. The manifold provides mounting flanges for the throttle body, fuel supply manifold, accelerator control brackets and the EGR valve. Vacuum taps are provided to support various engine accessories.

OPERATION
Injector ports are positioned so that the fuel injector spray is directed in front of each engine intake valve.
