One-Way Clutch and Small Sun Gear - With 4EAT
DISASSEMBLESmall Sun Gear And One-Way Clutch Assembly:
NOTE: Refer to the Small Sun Gear And One-way Clutch Assembly image when disassembling small sun gear and one-way clutch.
1. Inspect sun gear drum and small sun gear for damage or wear.
2. Using a dial indicator, check sun gear drum I.D. Maximum is 1.316 inch.
3. Using a dial indicator, check small sun gear I.D. Maximum is 0.946 inch.
4. Disassemble one-way clutch, noting the following:
a. Remove inner race, one-way clutch, and thrust bearing.
b. Inspect inner and outer race and replace as required.
c. Lubricate thrust bearing, then install to one-way clutch inner race.
Installing One-Way Clutch Inner Race Into Outer Race:
d. Install one-way clutch into one-way clutch outer race.
NOTE: Ensure spring cage of one-way clutch faces outer race.
e. Install one-way clutch inner race into clutch outer race turning inner race counterclockwise.
f. Ensure inner race turns counterclockwise.
ASSEMBLE
1. Install small sun gear into sun gear drum with snap ring.
2. Lubricate thrust bearing, then install to one-way clutch outer race.
3. Install one-way clutch inner and outer race to sun gear drum.
NOTE: Ensure to align splines of one-way clutch inner race and small gear clutch hub.
4. Install snap ring, then ensure when small sun gear is held one-way clutch outer race turns smoothly clockwise.
5. Lubricate thrust bearing, then install to sun gear drum.
