Cylinder Identification Sensor: Description and Operation

Cylinder Identification (CID) Sensor:

The Cylinder Identification (CID) sensor is located in the distributor and provides accurate position of cylinder #1 Top Dead Center (TDC) compression stroke. The Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) receives an input signal as the reluctor on the distributor shaft rotates past a fixed magnetic pickup disc inside the distributor. The ECA uses this signal to modify injector timing.
