ISSUE: A hard start or long crank condition may be experienced during high current switching. This occurs because the magnetic field of the battery cable may interfere with the engine distributor pulses.

ACTION: Install convoluted tubing on the battery positive cable and secure the cable with a pipe clip. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1. Remove the existing convoluted tubing from the positive battery cable and discard.
2. Install 8" (200 mm) of convoluted tubing (E8AZ-14AO99-B) on the positive battery cable as shown in Figure 1 to ensure correct routing of the cable over the battery.
3. Install a pipe clip (95850-S2) on the positive battery cable and battery mounting bolt as shown in Figure 1.
4. Route the positive battery cable along the battery to minimize the contact in the battery step area.
