Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair
WARNING: DO NOT smoke or carry an open flame of any type while working on or near any fuel related component(s).
REMOVAL
1. Depressurize the fuel system.
Refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Completely drain the fuel tank by siphoning or pumping the fuel out through the fuel filler hose.
Fuel Tank And Components:
4. Remove the filler cap, tether, and two filler neck retaining screws inside the filler door.
5. Raise the vehicle and support with safety stands.
6. Remove the fuel tank drain plug and carefully drain remaining fuel into an approved safety container.
7. After draining remaining fuel, install the drain plug and torque to 9-13 lb.ft. (12-18 N-m).
8. Remove the two hose clamps and hoses at the filler neck.
9. Remove retaining screw from inside the wheel well.
10. Remove fuel filler neck, gaskets and bracket.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the filler neck, brackets, and gaskets. Secure by installing retaining screw to inside the wheel well.
2. Install the two hoses with hose clamps to the filler neck assembly.
3. Secure the filler neck to the body using the two retaining screws.
4. Add fuel to fuel tank. Verify filler neck connections DO NOT leak.
5. Install the fuel filler cap.
6. START the engine and let idle. Verify the fuel system does NOT leak.
