Fuel Injector: Service and Repair



WARNING: DO NOT smoke or carry an open flame of any type while working on or near any fuel related component(s).

REMOVAL


1. Depressurize the fuel system. Refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the throttle body.
4. Remove the fuel inlet line from the fuel rail.
5. Disconnect the fuel return line from the fuel rail.
6. Remove the electrical connectors at the injectors.
7. Remove the pressure regulator.
8. Remove the attaching bolts and the fuel rail.
9. Remove the fuel injectors.
10. Remove the O-rings from the injectors.

INSTALLATION

1. Install new O-rings onto the injectors and lubricate with clean engine oil.
2. Position the fuel injectors into the cylinder head.
3. Position the fuel rail onto the fuel injectors and install the attaching bolts. Torque to 14-19 lb.ft. (19-25 Nm).
5. Install the electrical connectors to the fuel injectors.
4. Install the fuel return line onto the pressure regulator.
6. Install the fuel supply line onto the fuel rail.
7. Install the throttle body.
8. Connect the fuel pump connector.
9. Install the rear seat cushion.
