Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
Canister Purge Solenoid:
Canister purging is regulated by a Purge Control Solenoid Valve, which is electronically controlled by the ECA. The normally closed solenoid valve is located within the vapor line between the charcoal canister and the throttle body vacuum fitting.
The Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) regulates canister purging by grounding the solenoid circuit internally. Manifold vacuum is applied to the charcoal canister drawing fuel vapors into the induction system to be burned.
