Idle Speed: Adjustments

Before adjusting the idle speed, make sure: Ignition timing is correct and all electrical accessories are OFF while making actual adjustments.

1. Apply the parking brake and make sure that the vehicle is in PARK (A/T), or NEUTRAL (M/T).
2. START and idle the engine until operating temperatures have been reached.
3. Turn OFF the engine. Disable the radiator cooling fan.
4. Connect a jumper wire between the green STI single pin connector and ground.

5. Verify the idle speed is within:

Manual Transaxle 700-800 rpm

Automatic Transaxle 700-800 rpm

6. If the idle speed is NOT within range, turn the idle air adjust screw to obtain the correct idle speed.

7. After adjustments are complete, remove the jumper wire and the tachometer. Reconnect cooling fan.
