3. Rework of Convertible Topside Retainer

The application of polyurethane tape to the convertible topside retainers helps maintain the side retainers in position.

^ Thoroughly clean the convertible topside retainers.

^ Apply polyurethane tape (9.5 in x 1.25 in) to the length of the side retainer evenly on both sides ensuring tape is clear of radius as shown in Figure 8.

NOTE:
Ensure that polyurethane tape is properly adhered with no air bubbles, etc.

These procedures give the convertible topside retainers and number 5 bow the necessary freedom which will prevent tears in the top material in this area.

^ Chamfer corners of convertible side retainers as per Figure 9.

^ Carefully make a cut 3/4 inch (20 mm) long in the rear end of the convertible topside retainers. The cut should go completely through the rubber retainer as shown in Figure 10.

^ Remove a 3/4 inch (20 mm) square piece of cover tab material (retainer flap which covers the end of the number 5 bow) from the number 5 bow at the ends of the bow where it meets the side retainers. Refer to Figure 11.
