5. FITMENT OF SHINGLE WEATHERSTRIP BRACKETSThe fabric of the folding top may catch behind the "shingle" weatherstrip bracket during the raising cycle of the convertible top causing a tear at the "B" pillar corner.
^ Lower convertible top and support at a comfortable working level. Refer to Figure 20.
^ Inspect "B" pillar upper corner.
^ If a small plastic cap is "pop" riveted to the top of the "B" pillar, drill out the pop rivet, remove all drilling swarf and remove the cap and discard.
^ Position the shingle weatherstrip bracket into the No. 3 roof bow.
NOTE:
The hole in the shield leg locates over the "pop" rivet in the roof.
^ Position the shield against the "B" pillar and locate using pop rivet.
^ Complete pop rivet installation.
^ Repeat operation for opposite side of vehicle.
^ Reroute the upper tension cable back through the new cable guide as in Figure 22.
^ Attach the spring to the upper tension cable.
NOTE:
Sharp wire ends of spring should face forward toward the "B" pillar.
^ Fit new extended plastic sleeve spring cover. Refer to Figure 21.
NOTE:
Extended plastic sleeve should cover the bottom edge of the spring.
^ Attach the lower end of the upper tension cable spring to the hook on the "B" pillar. Refer to Figure 23.
