4. "B" Pillar Cable Guide Replacement





4. "B" Pillar Cable Guide Replacement (Includes replacement of the upper tension cable plastic sleeve spring cover). Refer to Figure 12.





^ Remove the "B" pillar weatherstrips. Refer to Figure 13.





^ Peel back and discard the "B" pillar foam strips on each "B" pillar flange of the convertible top. Refer to Figure 14.





^ Peel back the convertible top cover material from the "B" pillar to gain access to the "B" pillar cable guide area. Refer to Figure 15.

^ Detach the upper tension cable spring from the hook on the "B" pillar and remove and discard the plastic sleeve spring cover.

NOTE:
It may be necessary to bend the bracket on the "B" pillar to detach the spring.





^ Detach spring from the upper tension cable. Refer to Figure 16.

^ Remove the foam pad seal covering the "B" pillar cable guide and pull the upper tension cable through the cable guide.





^ Drill out with 5/16 inch (8 mm) drill bit (or chisel off from behind) the brass ferrule cable guide RH and LH. Refer to Figure 17.





^ Using the new plastic cable guide as a template (left guide for right side, right guide for left side) drill a 1/8 inch hole in the "B" pillar. Drill 1/8 inch pilot holes in RH and LH "B" pillars to locate the cable guide correctly. Refer to Figure 18.





^ Enlarge the 1/8 inch pilot hole in the "B" pillar with a 1/4 inch drill and secure the correct side guide with a self-tapping screw to the backside of the frame. Refer to Figure 19.
