ISSUE: A torn windshield header weatherstrip may be caused by the convertible top latching hooks. This happens if the convertible top overtravel stops are not adjusted correctly.
ACTION: Inspect the torn windshield header weatherstrip area and repair or replace it as necessary. Adjust the convertible overtravel stops as required. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
WEATHERSTRIP TEAR - REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Inspect the torn area.
2. If the tear is minor, less than 15 mm long, repair it with Ford Instant Adhesive (E8AZ-19554-A).
3. Apply the adhesive as directed on the package.
4. If the weatherstrip tear cannot be satisfactorily repaired using this method, replace it by using the following procedure.
WINDSHIELD HEADER WEATHERSTRIP - REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

4. Carefully remove the weatherstrip from the mounting flanges. Remove any washers that were used as spacers.
5. Remove the existing transfer tape residue from the horizontal face of the windshield moulding. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol or equivalent and wipe with a clean cloth.
Figure 1:
6. Apply a layer of transfer tape to the polyurethane adhesive tape on the vertical face of the windshield upper moulding, Figure 1.

11. Install the door opening scuff plate forward screws.
12. Remove the retaining screws from the side rail front weatherstrip.
13. Pull the weatherstrip end down from the side rail.
14. Re-install the side rail weatherstrip and retaining screws.
CONVERTIBLE TOP OVERTRAVEL STOP ADJUSTMENT
Figure 3:
1. Measure and, if necessary, adjust the front latch hook length to 25 mm as shown in Figure 3.
Figure 4:
2. Raise the convertible top. With the rear retainer disengaged from the stowage compartment lid, latch the convertible top to the header, Figure 4.
3. Adjust the overtravel stops as follows:
Figure 5:
a. Loosen the stop screw locknut, Figure 5.
b. Rotate the stop screw to move the stop away from the "B" pillar.
c. Tighten the stop screw until the rubber pad contacts the "B" pillar, then tighten it one (1) full turn to compress the rubber stop.
d. Tighten the locknut.
e. Repeat the operation on the opposite side of the convertible top.
4. Unlatch the convertible top and close the stowage compartment lid.
5. Re-install the convertible top rear retainer into the stowage compartment lid moulding.
a. Check the clearance between the weatherstrip and the convertible top latching hooks and guides as the forward edge of the top is lowered into position.
b. If necessary, fine tune the adjustment to obtain the required clearance.
6. With the convertible top latched into position, check the side rail weatherstrip to windshield header weatherstrip contact. There should be a 1-2mm compression of the weatherstrips.
7. If necessary, move the "A" pillar sections of the windshield header weatherstrip and/or the side rail weatherstrips to obtain the required weatherstrip contact.
