Replacement of Number 5 Bow

^ Place protective covers over the convertible top stowage lid.





^ Peel back the convertible top cover tab (retainer flap) material from the ends of the number 5 bow. Refer to Figure 39.





^ Knock out the roll pins (with a pin punch or pop rivet used and detach the side tension wires from the number 5 bow. Refer to Figure 40. Retain the roll pins for refitment.

^ Further peel back the convertible top cover material and expose the pop rivet which retains the cover material to the number 5 bow.





^ Drill out the pop rivet (with 1/8 inch drill bit) from each end of the number 5 bow to release the convertible top cover material. Refer to Figure 41.





^ Slowly remove the convertible top cover material from the number 5 bow. Refer to Figure 42.

NOTE:
The convertible top cover material should be carefully removed from the number 5 bow to prevent damage and avoid complete cover material replacement becoming necessary.





^ Drill out the 3 pop rivets (with a 1/8 inch drill bit) which attach the webbing to the number 5 bow. Refer to Figure 43.

^ Repeat operation for opposite side of vehicle.

^ Discard original rear retainer (number 5 bow) and obtain a new number 5 bow.





^ Using pop rivets attach the convertible top webbing to the number 5 bow placing the webbing in between the number 5 bow and webbing retainer. Refer to Figure 44. Repeat on opposite side of vehicle.

^ Locate the convertible top cover material in position with the number 5 bow by aligning the pop rivet holes.





^ Pop rivet the convertible top cover material to the ends of the number 5 bow. Refer to Figure 45.





^ Insert the four retainers (two on each end) and then insert full center length of the convertible top material into the number 5 bow which should snap into position when properly retained. Refer to Figure 46.








^ Re-position the side tension wires into the number 5 bow and refit the roll pins (part number E9JY-6507A44-A). Refer to Figures 47 and 48.





^ Re-glue the cover material to the number 5 bow. Refer to Figure 49.
