ISSUE: Water leaks and poor door/window operation may be caused by incorrect alignment of the door glass and weatherstrip.

ACTION: Use the following door glass and weatherstrip alignment procedure to prevent water leaks and to improve door and window operation.

Before making door glass adjustments, check the door-to-body fit and, if necessary, make corrections, Figure 1.

Figure 2:

Figure 3:

QUARTER GLASS FORE & AFT ALIGNMENT

1. With the door closed and correctly aligned, check the leading edge of the quarter glass to be sure it is parallel to the "A" pillar windshield moulding, Figure 2. A gap of about 10 mm should exist between the glass and the moulding. If alignment is required, proceed with Steps 2 through 6.

2. Remove the lower door trim, Figure 3.

3. Remove the mirror bezel and loosen the mirror retaining nut, Figure 3.

4. Loosen the two (2) screws on the adjuster plate at the bottom of the front window channel, Figure 3.

5. Align the quarter glass as required.
6. Tighten the adjuster plate screws and the mirror retaining nut.

WINDOW GLASS LATERAL ALIGNMENT

1. Make sure the upper edge of the window glass is seated under the lip of the weatherstrip when it is fully raised, Figure 2. If alignment is required, proceed with Steps 2 through 5.

2. Leave the window in the raised position.

3. Loosen the adjuster locknut at the lower end of the front window channel.

4. Turn the adjuster screw, Figure 2, to achieve correct positioning of the glass under the lip of the weatherstrip.

5. Tighten the adjuster locknut.

WINDOW GLASS LONGITUDINAL ADJUSTMENT

1. Make sure the upper edge of the window glass is seated under the lip of the weatherstrip for the full length of the glass when it is fully raised, Figure 2. If it needs to be adjusted, proceed with Steps 2 through 7.

2. Lower the window.

3. Remove the two (2) water seals from the door inner panel.

4. Working through the openings exposed, loosen the two (2) regulator slider-to-glass bolts.

5. Rotate the glass to achieve a full length contact of the glass edge with the lip of the weatherstrip.

6. Tighten the regulator slider bolts.

7. Lower and raise the window several times to check the alignment retention.

WINDOW GLASS HEIGHT STOP ADJUSTMENT

1. Lower the window.

2. Working through the opening in the lower inner door panel, loosen the stop bracket.
3. Check the operation of the window.

4. Adjust the bracket as required.

5. Tighten the stop bracket nut.

WINDOW GLASS REAR CHANNEL ADJUSTMENT

The rear channel adjustment must be correct to make sure of free movement of the window.

1. Lower the window.

2. Loosen the two (2) longitudinal adjustment screws on the adjuster plate at the bottom on the channel, Figure 3.

3. Raise and lower the window, then tighten the screws.

4. Loosen the lateral adjuster screw locknut, Figure 3, and turn the adjuster to relieve any strain on the channel.

5. Tighten the locknut.

6. Raise and lower the window to be sure that it moves freely.

NOTE: IF THE BATTERY IS NOT IN A FULLY CHARGED CONDITION, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO START THE ENGINE AND RUN IT AT FAST IDLE TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT POWER TO OPERATE THE REGULATOR MOTOR.

SHINGLE WEATHERSTRIP ADJUSTMENT

The shingle weatherstrip is adjustable in the vertical plane. A correctly located shingle weatherstrip has its metal carrier flush with the lower edge of the convertible top side rail, Figure 2. Adjust the shingle weatherstrip as follows:

1. Loosen the four (4) retaining screws.

2. Position the shingle weatherstrip as required.

3. Tighten the retaining screws.

Completion

After all of the adjustments have been completed, proceed as follows:
1. Install the door inner panel seals.

2. Install the door trim and mirror bezel, Figure 2.
