SUBJECT: Emissions Recall 90E85 - Recall of Certain 1990-Model California Tempo/Topaz and 49-States Econolines for Replacement of Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) Decals

IN CARES/OASIS/LISTINGS - YES RETURN PARTS - NO DECALS SENT TO OWNERS - YES

VEHICLES ^ 1990-Model California 2.3L HSC engine equipped Tempo
and Topaz cars manufactured at the Kansas City Assembly Plant from July 31 through September 21, 1989 and the Oakville Assembly Plant from August 21 through September 20, 1989.

^ 1990-Model 49-States High Altitude 5.8L engine equipped E-150/250 Econolines manufactured at the Lorain Assembly Plant from July 24 through October 12, 1989.

REASON FOR The affected vehicles were manufactured with incorrect
RECALL Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) decals.
California Tempo/Topaz cars have decals with the incorrect engine family name and bar code, and the E-Series truck decals have the incorrect compliance statement.

DECALS TO Owners will be mailed a new decal with instructions to
OWNERS place it over the existing decal. They will be given the
option to have a dealer install the decal.

DEALER Install the decal if owners return for service. Correct
OBLIGATION all dealer stock units before delivery.
