SUBJECT:
Emissions Recall 91E09 - Throttle Position Sensor Replacement on Certain 1990 and 1991-Model Tempo/Topaz Cars and Aerostar Trucks

AFFECTED VEHICLES:
1990 and 1991-Model United States and Canadian 2.3L engine equipped Tempo and Topaz cars manufactured through November 27, 1990 and 3.0L engine equipped Aerastar trucks manufactured through November 30, 1990.

REASONS FOR RECALL:
The affected cars and trucks were manufactured with throttle position sensors that can wear out prematurely causing an interuption of the sensor signal and illumination of the malfunction indicator light.

SERVICE ACTION:
Cars and trucks returned for service will have throttle position sensors inspected and, if necessary, replaced and Authorized Modifications decals attached.
