Test 3, Wiring Harness

1. Disconnect wiring harness connector from ignition module and check for dirt, corrosion, or damage. Push connector tabs to separate.
2. Disconnect wire from "S" terminal of starter relay.
3. Connect negative lead of voltmeter to distributor base. Check battery voltage.
4. Check connector terminal voltage by connecting a volt-ohmmeter to small straight pin inserted into connector terminal. Check voltage with ignition switch in following positions: Check connector terminal 3 with ignition switch in RUN and START positions and terminal 4 with switch in START position.
5. If voltage readings are 90% of battery voltage, minimum, replace TFI module.
6. If voltage readings are less than 90% of battery voltage, check wiring harness and connectors for damage or shorts, and check for damaged or worn ignition switch.
