3. Raise and support vehicle, then support engine and transaxle using a suitable jack.
4. Remove LH engine mounts and supports.
5. Loosen pump and valve body cover attaching bolts and drain transaxle fluid. After fluid has drained, remove cover and gasket.

Oil Pump And Valve Body Bolt Removal:

6. Remove 22 pump and valve body assembly to chain cover attaching bolts.

Disconnecting Manual Valve Link:

7. Pull pump and valve body assembly out enough to clear throttle valve bracket, then rotate valve body clockwise and disconnect manual valve link.
8. Remove pump and valve body assembly from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Install new pump and valve body to chain cover gasket.
2. Slide pump and valve body assembly into oil pump shaft.
3. Rotate pump and valve body assembly toward dash panel, then engage manual valve link with manual valve.
4. Rotate or jiggle pump and valve body assembly to engage splines on oil pump shaft with splines on oil pump rotor. Valve body should slide flush onto chain cover without force. If full engagement of the pump and valve body assembly is not obtained, perform one of the two following methods:
a. Rotate engine using 7/8 inch deep well socket on the crankshaft pulley to complete engagement of the pump shaft to pump.
b. Remove manual valve from valve body, then rotate assembly as necessary to allow full engagement of pump shaft to pump.

Oil Pump And Valve Body Bolt Tightening Sequence:

5. Using valve body alignment pin T86P-70100-C or equivalent to position valve body, install pump and valve body attaching bolts. Torque attaching bolts to 7-9 ft lbs in the sequence shown in the Oil Pump And Valve Body Bolt Tightening Sequence image.

CAUTION: Use caution not to use attaching bolts to draw pump and valve body into position.

6. Install pump, valve body cover, and new gasket. Torque cover attaching bolts to 7-9 ft lbs.
7. Install LH engine mounts and supports, then remove engine and transaxle supporting jack and lower vehicle.
8. Place hoses and wiring in position, then install air cleaner, battery, and tray.
9. Fill transaxle with suitable oil, then start engine and ensure transaxle operates properly.
