Cabin Temperature Sensor / Switch: Description and Operation

In Car Temperature Sensor Assembly:

The In Car Temperature Sensor Assembly is located behind the instrument panel directly above the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) control head and the clock. A small opening through the instrument panel allows passenger compartment air to enter the in-car sensor. The in-car sensor contains a thermistor (thermal resistor) that senses the passenger compartment air. The thermistor provides an electrical input to the control module on the ATC control head. The assembly also includes an aspirator that provides a very small vacuum to draw a continuous sampling of passenger compartment air across the thermistor through a tube from the blower.
