Internal and External Shift Linkage - With AOD
REMOVALNOTE: It may be necessary to remove fan shroud attaching bolts and position shroud out of way on models that necessitate lowering transmission to gain access to manual lever.
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove interfering exhaust components and/or lower transmission as necessary.
3. Apply penetrating oil to outer throttle lever attaching nut to prevent breaking inner throttle lever.
4. Grasp outer throttle lever and hold firmly, then remove outer throttle lever attaching nut and lock washer and position lever and Throttle Valve (TV) rod or cable assembly out of way.
5. Carefully disconnect manual rod from transmission manual lever at transmission using shift linkage grommet removal tool T84P-7341-A or equivalent
6. Remove oil pan, gasket, and filter.
7. Remove manual lever detent spring and roller assembly.
8. Remove manual lever retaining pin by carefully prying with sharp narrow screwdriver.
9. Note assembled position of TV lever torsion spring, then remove spring.
10. Slide 5/8 inch box wrench over inner manual lever close to bottom of lever, not allowing wrench to contact rooster comb area, and using 21 mm wrench, remove manual lever attaching nut. Hold inner manual lever securely with box wrench while applying break torque to manual lever attaching nut.
11. Remove outer manual lever from case.
12. Remove inner throttle lever and shaft assembly.
13. Remove inner manual lever and park pawl actuating rod assembly.
14. Disconnect park pawl actuating rod from inner manual assembly.
15. Remove and discard manual lever oil seal.
INSTALLATION
1. Reverse procedure to install, then adjust manual and throttle linkages.
