DESCRIPTION

Mirror, Power A RH and LH electrically powered outside rearview mirror is available. The servo motor is part of the mirror head assembly and can be serviced separately. The mirror glass can also be serviced separately. The switch for controlling adjustments is located on the driver's armrest. One control switch operates both RH and LH mirrors, and selection can be made by moving the selector switch to the LH or RH position to control the appropriate mirror requiring adjustment. The switch is designed to tilt the mirror up, down, left or right by depressing the push button on the arrow indicating the desired direction.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (Continued)




Installation
1. Install the mirror assembly by routing the connector and wiring through the hole in the door and attach with three retaining nuts.
2. Connect mirror wiring connector and install wiring guides.
3. Replace mirror mounting hole cover (snaps in).
4. Replace door trim panel. Refer to Section 45-03.
5. Connect battery ground cable.





Mirror Glass Thunderbird/Cougar Removal and Installation
1. Push the inner edge of the mirror glass into the housing.
2. Grip the outer edge of the mirror glass and pull out until the glass snaps out of the motor assembly.
NOTE: WHEN REMOVING THE GLASS, A SNAP WILL BE HEARD. THIS IS NORMAL AND DOES NOT MEAN THE DRIVING MECHANISM HAS BEEN DAMAGED

Installation 1. Install, line up the locking tabs of the mirror glass to the housing as shown.
2. Firmly push the glass into place with the palm of the hand until it locks in.




Mirror Motor Assembly Removal
1. Remove mirror glass assembly as outlined in this Section.
2. Remove motor attaching screws. Disconnect motor connector and remove motor.

Installation
1. Connect motor connector. Position motor in mirror housing and install attaching screws.
2. Install mirror glass as outlined in this Section.

Removal and Installation

1. Remove switch housing attaching screw and rotate housing up and out of armrest.
2. Disconnect wiring connector from the mirror switch.
3. Using a screwdriver, depress four locking tabs (two on each side) and remove mirror switch from switch housing.
4. To install, reverse Steps 1, 2 and 3.


Mirror, Electronic Day/Night

Removal
1. Disconnect the wiring connectors at the mirror and the auto dimmer sensor, if so equipped.
2. Loosen the mirror assembly to mounting bracket setscrew.
3. Remove the mirror assembly by sliding upward and away from the mounting bracket.

Installation
1. Position the mirror assembly to the mounting bracket by sliding downward toward the bracket.
2. Tighten the mirror assembly to mounting bracket setscrew to 1.5-1.9 N-m (13-17 lb-in).

3. Connect the wiring connectors at the mirror and the auto dimmer sensor, if so equipped.
4. Check mirror for proper operation as outlined.
