Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove body undercovers.
3. Remove transaxle drain plug and allow fluid to drain.
4. Remove transaxle oil pan attaching screws and oil pan.
5. Remove valve body attaching bolts, Fig. 3, then carefully remove valve, using care not to loosen vacuum diaphragm rod or ball and spring for converter relief valve.

Installation
1. Position vacuum diaphragm rod to hole in case, Fig. 4.
2. Install check ball and spring into case bore, Fig. 4. Use petroleum jelly to hold ball and spring in position.
3. Position groove in manual valve with drive pin of shift rod, then index dowel in transaxle case to valve body holes, Fig. 5. Install valve body attaching bolts and torque to 70-95 inch lbs.
4. Install oil pan and gasket. Torque oil pan attaching bolts to 43-69 inch lbs. Do not use any sealer on oil pan gasket.
5. Install underbody covers, then lower vehicle.
6. Add three quarts of Dexron Type II fluid to transaxle, then start engine and check fluid level.
