Shift Linkage: Adjustments

1. Place gear shift lever in N position.
2. Remove clip and pin retaining shift cable to transaxle lever, Fig. 1.
3. Rotate transaxle lever fully counterclockwise to P position, then rotate lever two detents clockwise to N position.
4. If hole in shift lever aligns with holes in trunnion, shift cable is properly adjusted. If holes do not align proceed to step 5.
5. Remove shift lever quadrant bezel attaching screw, then lift upward on bezel to disengage from console.
6. Remove shift quadrant attaching screws, the rotate quadrant to provide access to shift cable adjusting nuts.
7. Position gear shift lever in P and check position of detent spring roller. If roller is not centered in park detent, loosen attaching screws and move detent spring as necessary to center, then install quadrant attaching screws.
8. Position gear shift lever in N, then adjust cable adjusting nuts to as necessary to align transaxle shift lever and cable trunnion holes, Fig. 2.
9. After completing adjustment, torque cable adjusting nuts to 69-95 inch lbs.
10. Position shift cable trunnion to transaxle shift lever, then install pin and clip.
11. With gear shift lever in N position, press on shift interlock button and move gear shift lever forward until transaxle axle gear shift lever just begins to move and note distance.
12. With gear shift lever in N position, press on shift interlock button and move gear shift lever rearward until transaxle axle gear shift lever just begins to move and note distance.
13. If necessary, rotate shift cable adjusting nuts slightly, until forward and rearward movement of gear shift are equal. After completing adjustment, torque adjusting nuts to 69-95 inch lbs.
14. Install shift quadrant bezel, then check for proper operation of gear shift linkage and neutral safety switch.
