Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Description and Operation

Positive Crankcase Ventilation System:

The PCV system cycles crankcase fumes created by combustion blow-by into the intake manifold, where they are burned with air/fuel mixture. The PCV valve regulates the amount of ventilation and prevents backfire into the crankcase. A clean air vent prevents excessive vacuum from being built up in the engine.
